Well now that you know that he wants it back it won't look so good on your sofa anymore cause you'll feel guilty for keeping every time you see it...so I guess you have no choice but to give it back and go get yourself a lamp that might look even better beside your sofa.

Do you want to keep a friendship with your neighbor, do you want to be a good person. Then you return the lamp. It's really nice that it looks great with your sofa, but don't tell me that it's the only lamp in the whole world that you are ever going to find that will work. Be a good person and return the lamp.

Give it back. They sold it accidentally. The family has explained the situation to you. That should be enough. They should refund your money in full and you will return the lamp. Why? Because what looks good next to your sofa will never, ever be as important as what looks good on your soul. Be an adult, get a refund and give the lamp back.

It depends on the situation. Did someone put his lamp out there without his approval? If so, can you imagine how you'd feel if that happened to you?
If he did put it out there but changed his mind, too bad baby. It's yours now.
You said "priceless", what do you mean by that? Was he saving this item because of it's worth and then it was sold by someone else for a pittance? Wow, that would be terrible. You need to give it back with the return of your money.
Figure out how you'd feel given which ever situation it may be and then do the right thing.

Give it back.
1. it's kind
2. it wasn't supposed to be for sale so it was a mistake
3. it's hard to live with neighbors who don't like you anymore. Much easier to live w neighbors who appreciate a neighborly gesture and a little understanding.
It's a yard sale lamp, not a MIng vase.

They can not sell something legally that is not theirs. They made a mistake. The son has a right to have his lamp back. Your money should be returned to you and he should be given the lamp back. I would follow the law and give it back.

How do you know it's priceless? If it's just a lamp..give the kid his lamp back..if it's priceless...negotiate..but then again if it's really "priceless" can you put a $ amount on it? Just return it and learn from the experience.

If they want it back ask them where they got it and buy a BRAND NEW one. And also get the money you payed for the lamp back. So you should just give the lamp back.

give the lamp back-if you paid for it, don't give it back without getting your money back, of course, but only a really mean witch would keep it. mistakes happen-who gives a **** what it looks like next to your couch? don't be shallow
