Tell the doctor to change your medicene. I'm 42 and been through it all. Find a doctor who will give you nerve meds. they probably won't since you were a drinker, but its like a drink in a pill . sure makes me feel better. I can rest, eases my panic attacks and I dont' feel wired all the time. which made me feel crazy. You are going to have to fight for yourself. Its hard. God bless you and good luck
Mental Illness is not a choice, God I hate that, , So many people are in denial and dont' believe in mental illness, they hurt so many people with their theories. They need an education.

Nah your not crazy. I had exactly the same problems but with condoms..no joke. I had panic attacks for a few years everytime i went into a 7 11 store or supermarket and looked at them (relates to a destructive horrible relationship.) It will go away..but you NEED to talk yourself out of it. Tell yourself your being rediculous. Tell yourself that you are not going to let a stupid glass of wine DICTATE your life. It takes along time to get that strength back, but once it is back, you wont let go of it ever again.
I have suffered from depression for years too, and I also went through a stage where I drank way too heavily..but i never saw anyone for it. You will gain control of your life...but you have to remember it is a SLOW process..and boy is it hard...but you will pick up the pieces again...and it will get so much easier. Stop feeling so guilty about alcohol...its not SUCH a bad thing ok? It wasnt the pressed grapes that was doing the harm..it was your obsession with thinking the pressed grapes could solve lifes problems that was the issue.
Ps...just because you were once a heavy drinker ect does not mean that you wont get to the stage in your life where you can drink sensibly.
If you feel that you are not strong enough to do that yet, (and it may take a few years) then dont. Once again..face it head on..and talk yourself out of all those negative thought patterns.
The main thing i want to stress is..its not alcohol that was the BAD thing..it was you thinking it would solve lifes problems that was bad.
Goodluck. You will be fine. :)

For your depression, I'd definitely recommend medication. That's the only thing that's helped me (I've been on Prozac for two years). I hear exercise is supposed to help too, though.
I'd recommend meds for your panic attacks as well, namely Xanax. Xanax will also make you sleepy, so you'll be able to get some sleep at night. I also find taking really deep, slow breaths helps somewhat. And giving yourself a little pep talk in your head, if you're at work or something, to try and keep yourself outwardly calm.
I hope you get the help you need!

If you feel your an alcoholic then get to meetings and find a sponsor to vent with. Your panic attacks are real.....I take one pill a day to fend off the attacks and have little side effects. Anything is better than the panic attacks.
If I was you I would develop a better knowledge of why your like you are. Depression and addiction usually adds up to bipolar disorder. If you get on meds, it takes time to get in the system. 2 weeks for me but well worth the wait.
I wish you luck and will pray for you.

You need the right chemicals getting to your brain cause you've got a brain-chemistry disorder. It takes trial and error sometimes to find the right combination that works for you. Seeing a therapist and group therapy can help you cope with your mood disorder also. Good luck and don't give up.

You sound like you need a stronger support system. You should look into a group therapy. I'm so sorry that you are tormented with this. I am the daughter of an addict and I have had to help with the ongoing healing. You are not alone but you are strong!! You have already overcome the acknowledgement of your addiction, the rest is just tying up loose ends.

I was on Zoloft for a long time straight when I was in college and it gave me symptoms similar to what you're describing. Maybe you're having side effects from your medication because it's wrong for you, you're taking too much, or you've been on it too long. Talk to your doctor about trying a different medication or maybe taking some kind of anti-anxiety.
