What is it like to drive from Banff to Jasper?

Question

through the national parks along 93? In May?
Is it crowded? Is the road slow and winding, or is it a straight and fast highway? Is it scenic? or do you see only the car/road in front of you? Are there many petrol stations along the way? Is it isolated or commercialized?
Any info helps. Thanks in advance!

It is very scenic. You are after all, traveling through the Canadian Rockies. Also lots of stops, viewpoints and trails. Mountains, glaciers, lakes, trees.... AND I guarantee you will see wildlife. I have never entered those parks without seeing wildlife.

May is a good time, weather is good, but before the traffic gets really bad when school lets out and the big family road trips season begins in late June.

I am having trouble with some of your other questions, as the answer seems to be in the middle. Gas - yes there are sufficient gas stations, but I wouldn't pass by one with the tank needle on empty. Straight and fast - well surprisingly straight for a route through the Rockies! It's one lane going each way, so between tourist traffic, wildlife on the side of the road, curves, etc. expect to go probably 80 to 90 km's an hour. It is more isolated, natural beauty. As a national park becoming more commercialized is highly regulated.

Absolutely beautiful. May is great because it won't be crowded before the summer rush. Banff is more commercialized than Jasper. Lots of elk and other critters. Always keep a full tank of gas, even though there are stations. Make sure to go to Lake Louise and Maligne Canyon.

We live about four hours from Jasper. We moved here six months ago. Glad you asked this question. Unfortunately I have no answer but am going to read and learn. Thanx
