I have had this problem for many years. Everytime I go out by myself to a nice restaurant or to the movies women either give me funny looks or they tell me how brave I am. I don't think of it as bravery, I think of it as having fun. So why do I get all the looks and disapprovement or the envy.

Big secret----women crave security. Being in the company of others can help create security. A women in a group is less vulnerable to attack, approach, or scrutiny.
I, too, do many things alone. I like to make my own decisions and not be concerned about another's preferences. I have been called brave and selfish. I consider myself simply confidant.

I am certainly no expert but in my college sociology class they taught us that society's norm is that women don't go places alone... not that there is something wrong with that, that's just the norm and people think its unusual. The fact that you do do those things alone strikes other women as brave because society "teaches" them that it is something to be scared of. I think its great and its actually something that I have started doing since I've been single to get myself out of the house. Hats off to you. We should all take a lesson from you!!!

It's just a mater of time before something goes wrong, you may be brave now but that can change, there are bad people all over this world and if they can harm someone they will. Please be careful and it is best to always be with a group of people just for basic safety.

because most women feel really lonely when they go out by themselves thats the brave part, the funny stares part is that it seems like only womens right activist would go out to dinner by themselves...

probably cause they know that they couldn't be brave enough to go to the movies or dinner by themselves so they think it's great your able to do it. if someone gives you dirty looks then just give them the middle finger

Some women today think you need to have a man with you at all times. If you don't have one they think you can't get one. Personally I think the reason they tell you that is that its something that they can not do themselves.

hmm probably because its that you dont have a date and you just go out in public and go on things that you usually do on a date.
i know what you mean though, i'd do that stuff too when i can drive =) and its cool that you think of it as fun and not staying at home worrying about your dating life
