clonidine hcl?

Question

my sons friend is spending the night & his mom had asked me to administer clonidine HCL 0.1mg with benedryl. I must tell you, I am a nurse & i'm very confused by this combo. Hopefuly you have an explanation for me. Thank You.

What is it for? I mean, I know what clonodine is (aka-Catapres, high BP medication....also used for opiate withdrawal) but what is he getting it for? Did you ask the mother? Never heard of combining it with Benedryl?

I would call her about this before you give it? You have a right to know why you are giving it to him and if you aren't comfortable, I would have his mother do it.
