A girl that I know seems to show only a few subtle signs that she might like me (eg. only playing with her hair, staring at me, etc.), but not all of them, and they may be on and off. What does this mean?
Should I expect the signs to be constantly displayed, or will they only be shown only once in a while (eg. once every two to three days)? Also, if the signs are very subtle, does that simply mean that she is shy?

you seem to be answering your own questions.. and you are most likely right with everything you said. she probably is shy and she probably likes you too.. if you like her then flirt back by looking at her and smiling and stuff. and you need to get up the guts to talk to her if you want it to go further, because she probably likes you but doesn't know if you like her.. you need to know show Your signs if You are interested.......

she probably waiting for a reaction from u to see if you like her too... & she doesnt want to make it too obvious that she likes you so thats why she only does it once in a while
