The 1999 gmc truck started cranking on it's own. What could be the problem? Bought a new battery and an ingition relay and starter relay but it did not help. no sooner than the battery was connected again it started cranking itself again. Need some help please. I had never heard of this until it happened... please help

Your ignition switch may have gone bad. It's not the one the Key is in, there is a switch under the dash, usually on the steering column that is activated by the key switch that routes power to the ignition.
You may also have a bad ignition relay. It's in a box on the drivers side of the engine bay on the wheel well. You may need to have a mechanic check these components to confirm if one of them is the problem.

Daniel may have a good point. If you know when this started you might be able to figure it out. To me first thing I'd check is the wire's down near the starter. There could be a short. You can crank a vehicle over by using a screwdriver and touching the positive post on the starter then making contact with the bolt sticking out on the celinoid. See if your wires are bare or shorting. Shouldn't take long to trace the wire's and if there is a bad spot this could very well be your problem.
