My girlfriend got married at St Andrew's Heritage Hall in Maple Ridge.. it's a very nice former church that you can use for both the wedding and the reception, and is quite cheap! The only drawback is..it only has one bathroom!

She had a marriage commissioner.. a very nice woman who did a lovely ceremony.. and they did it a little bit differently.. the officiant was a bit off to the side and the bride and groom faced towards the audience. It was much better to see their faces instead of the back of their heads!

She had a caterer bring in the meal, which was great because there really isn't much in the way of service facilities, and we made and bottled all the wine ourselves at a U-Brew or whatever it was. We made LOTS... it only gets better with age.. and is much better than buying cheap commercial plonk.

Instead of a big tiered cake, she got two sheet cakes from Costco, one vanilla and one chocolate (the groom's fav) and they were lovely and tasty. Costco is actually a wonderful resource if you don't want to go the catering route. Those big linen-look disposable tablecloths are GREAT. They are heavy and look nice, and are absorbent and waterproof on the back so spills don't make a mess. They also sell beautiful roses for.. hmm.. I think it's $19.95 for two dozen long stemmed roses. Get some dollar store bud vases and put three stems in them and tada.. 8 centerpieces for peanuts! They also do wedding flowers.. no huge variety.. but great value.

Good luck with your wedding :)

My parents got married without having a priest and everything! You can still get married as long as its with a judge! Its still legal because some judges go through courses to get degrees in Wedding Planning and documentation. Its actually better to do this because you have proof and its cheaper! My parents had a little party afterward also! The whole wedding cost them only $2,000 and that's it! The rings and everything. Your future wife doesn't have to go get an actual wedding dress either! If you have a wedding like this, you'll have a better honeymoon! I hope this helps! :-) Good luck and have a happy marriage!
