There are many things that could be said, but just one fact you might want to consider. The Jews were driven from their homeland over 1900 years ago, and scattered throughout the nations. In the Bible God promised this very thing, yet said in the last days He would regather them to the land of their fathers, and send His Messiah to establish His Kingdom, which would rule over all the earth.
In 1948 700,000 poorly armed Jews successfuly defended themselves against 40 million well armed Arabs, who were intent upon driving them into the sea. In 1967 the Jews regained the old city of Jerusalem. Jesus said in Luke 21:24 that "Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles (non-Jews), until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled."
Those days are upon us now, and the stage is clearly being set for the fulfillment of all that has been written. It may take 50 years, or it may take 50 months, but Jesus said "when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."
(Luke 21:28)

Human lives are so short, it always seems like the last days. It is OUR last days. The earth, however, will continue on much as it has for the last 4.5 billion years, entirely unmindful of our presence on it.

On the other hand, we might be able to do something about the earth within the next few hundred years. Suppose we discover how to convert matter into antimatter. Perhaps someone will place Ceres onto a collision course with the earth, then convert it all into antimatter. When it collides, the earth would be demolished in an explosion not as powerful as a supernova, but still roughly equal to the total output of the sun over the course of a week. A new star will briefly appear in the night skies of worlds orbitting other suns.

But, probably that will never happen. Instead, our species will simply go extinct. It may take a few hundred thousand years for the last humans to disappear, and the grand experiment of natural evolution that was us will be over. We can take some measure of pride in the fact that we will have taken many species with us--we are already responsible for the extinction of quite a few of earth's species, and have so endangered so many more their disappearance is inevitable.

Many people believe we should continue populating the earth until we displace all other species except ourselves and bacteria, upon which we can feed. Another bleak and dismal future.

The fact that there is strife within and among the churches MAY be one of the signs of the end times.

The folks at Family Radio believe the Final Judgment and Second Coming of Christ will be in the fall of 2011.

For example see the book “Time Has an End” on line at:
http://www.timehasanend.org/public/en_time_has_an_end_cont.html

This group, whose primary teacher is one Harold Camping, also believes the Church Age has ended in 1988 and believers are to come out of the churches as they are now under the control of malevolent forces now that the Tribulation has begun. According to this group, this is why there is so much strife between and within church groups.

See the book Time Has an End, Ch. 10:
http://www.timehasanend.org/public/en_time_has_an_end_ch10.html

That said, the online audio lectures at Family Radio, are illuminating and worth a listen:
See: http://worldwide.familyradio.org/zusa/english/connect/audio_archive/echoes/frame/download/download.html

Finally, for the offline version of the Family Radio nightly call in show, where folks ask questions about the bible to Mr. Camping, see:
http://worldwide.familyradio.org/zusa/english/connect/audio_archive/forum/frame/

I am not endorsing Family Radio’s doctrines, but one is able to learn quite a bit by listening to these materials.

Most of what you will read about the end times are pre-millennial views: the view that Christ's return will usher in a future millennium of Messianic rule mentioned in the book of Revelation before the final judgment. The believers of this doctrine also hold to the notion of a Rapture of the righteous beforehand.

Others hold that there will be only one second coming of Christ, at the time of the Final Judgment.

Then there are mixtures involving the views of the seven year tribulation and whether it is happening now, will happen later, etc.

These doctrines all fall under the general heading known as the study of end times, or eschatology.

For explanations of the various eschatological beliefs see: http://www.religioustolerance.org/millenni.htm

A great study for this is Daniel by Beth Moore. Revelation is more about the tribulation and what happens then. Look at other areas of the Bible to see the prophesies about the end times. Jesus Himself gave many prophesies in the gospels that are much clearer and easier to understand. I do believe in the second coming and I also VERY strongly believe that we are in the last days.

Yes I wholeheartedly believe we are living in the last days. When I read 2 Timothy 3:1-5, it is like watching CNN.

Nothing will happen to planet earth. It is not going anywhere. Isaiah 45:18 says that God formed the earth to be inhabited. Psalms 115:16 says God has given the earth to us.

This system of things will begin its downfall in the great tribulation and that will culminate in the battle of Armageddon. This is God's battle wherein he will destroy all wicked people and wickedness. Period. Those who are right now aligning themselves on the side of his kingdom government will be preserved alive - delivered where they will have the opportunity to reside forever in a restored paradise on earth. No sickness, no disease, no death, no old age, no crime, no war, no poverty.

I know Revelation is difficult but it can be understood.

I don't know how much longer before the great tribulation breaks out. In truth, it could come tomorrow. Or next year. Or this system could last another eight years or ten years. But considering what man is doing to himself and to the planet, I really don't think we've got that long. Not to mention the fact that almost all of the prophecies that must be fulfilled before Armageddon have already come to pass.

I do not believe in the second coming but i do believe we are in the last days. We will not know the day it will occur until it is here. As for the world I do not know exactly but in Psalms. It tells that the wicked will be destroyed and the righteous will inherit the earth it says this several places in Psalms. I keep thinking it is in chapeter 37 or 38 I am not sure. I do not believe the world will be destroyed because also in the bible God say i did not create the earth for nothing. He intends to make it a paridise again someday.

Yes I do believe in the second Coming and yes I do believe we are in the last days. Research some of the writing by Hokema on Revelation. This format is not the best for a detailed discussion on eschatology.

honestly it all depends on what your beliefs are as to the meaning of revelations. I don't think we are in the last days.
As for individual: revelations means you will finally pass on into heaven for good, when you learn, and do everything you need to on earth. Then and only then will you be "retired" from this planet.
As for the population: once all souls have passed on to heaven the world will then and only then cease to exist. There must be no souls to come back to earth. Which is the believe that hell is on earth, and we learn and climb out of hell and decend into heaven.
But that is my belief, not the belief of all christians. Different denominations believe it means different things.
As for Christ, I believe he is here among us at all times. Those who have completed their journey he escorts to heaven.

Yes I believe in the second coming of Jesus. I believe we have been in the last days from the moment Christ ascended into Heaven. As far as how long we have left? As little as right now and as long as another few thousand years. I honestly thought it would of happened by now.

Every generation has thought this since he went back to heaven the FIRST time. : ) The difference is that now, the media is so huge, and technology has grown so much that we see everything that goes on in the world, and people can broadcast their fears all over the world.

There are signs, and I guess its possible...but I don't think that we need to live in fear, just do your part to make the world a more moral place by setting a good example.
