...the apostel Paul is writing to the Corinthian church... at that time "they" were a bunch of fornacators and "bad" people... Paul is suggesting we put our efforts in serving God... but he is also saying... yes, it's fine to marry... and it's better if you do then to live in a sinful life with other(s)...

It means that it is better to be celibate in order to focus more on God, so we can dedicate more of our lives fulfilling the command to make disciples of every tongue, every tribe, and every nation. However, Paul warns, if we cannot control our bodies in regard to the opposite sex, we should marry so that we will not be tempted to sin, for marriage is a bonding covenant. Instead of burning with passion, we should marry so that we will not commit adultery.
scout485: Actually, God moved Paul to write this. After all, Jesus chose Paul to declare these things.

I don't believe that.... there are many passages in the bible where marriage is described as a beautiful part of life. I am sad to say it's been a while since I've read it, but I do know it's in there. I am sure there are people that feel a calling to devote themselves solely to Him (Nuns, Monks). God did not intend for everyone to be alone, and marriage is something God created so that we don't have to be.

This passage was not for everyone, but for those on specific missions, like Paul was. That full-time missionaries should be single if at all possible.
God sanctified marriage, as did Christ. Paul told the Ephesians how to be good husbands and wives, and that the man is nothing without the woman and vice versa.

I don't know if I can help you that much due to the fact that I am only 15 and don't know that much about marriage, but I do remember in Proverbs that it says that it is better off to not get into the commitment, but if you really want to it's not a sin. But you must pladge your eternal commitment, and I could imagine that that is a lot harder then it seems. I am sorry....I don't remember which chapter it was....but I hope I helped.

Paul said it was his own opinion that people are happier if they dont marry because then they can focus thier life on God while the married ones would be concered with keeping their spouce happy. My opinion is if they are burnig with passsion they will be focused on that instead of God anyways so they should get married. Also they will sin less.

It is OK to marry if you understand what kind of responsibility it is. Paul did not marry because he was on the go a lot and he thought that it is easier for the servant of God to stay unmarried.
God gives us a choice. : )

Because married men have to provide for their family, married women care for their children.
Single people can give more time to the Lord in prayer and servitude.

No, I don't think God wants people to not marry. He said be fruitful and multiply and according to God that is done in marriage. So lets go!
