God gives us the ability to choose our alternative(s); he sees the result of the alternative before we do.

I do not think that God is controlling me at all. Your defintion of what is free is having no one over you by the way it seems. Sin keeps us from having a relationship with Christ. It keeps us from come to him openly. Think of in this manner, if you went to a soccer game or any other sports game and the official didn't know the rules of the game, there would be very little fun to the game. The penalties that were supposed to be called wouldn't be called. And, the things that were supposed to happen wouldn't happen. Christ gives us the things we should and shouldn't do so our lives won't be in such disarray. If we are following a life in sin, we are imprisoned by that sinful lifestyle. With Christ, we are set free of the controlling nature of sin. That is where the freedom comes from.

I don't know where you get the idea that a Christian is controlled by God. We are free to choose as we wish to do. We too have to make the choice to follow God or not each day. Being a Christian doesn't mean God controls my life. I don't know where you get that misunderstanding. It certainly isn't the case in the faith.
