You have to boot from the Win XP cd, to boot from the cd u have to change the option in the bios,
if u r using a dell computer as soon as u turn on the computer hold the ctrl key down and start tapping the f11, it will go to the pc restore screen and from there u can follow the on screen instruction,

I would suggest you try to fix whatever problems you have - feel free to e-mail / message me for help.

If you've given up you NEED to make sure you've copied the files you want to keep (e-mails, pictures, songs, other documents) onto a CD or DVD.

After that's done you have a few options:

If you have a Restore Partition (it's usually the D drive) you can either find out what key to tap while your computer is starting up, or you can find the program somewhere in Start > Programs > Accessories. You'll have to look around, but it's something like "System Restore".

If you have Restore Disks you just need to put the first one in your computer's CD drive and reboot your computer.

If you don't have either - you're going to have to completely start from the basics and find your XP (or whatever Windows version you have) disks.
I would like to point out that if you're going to start over from the very basics again you might want to try out something new anyways.

Tired of rebooting? Having to worry about hackers and viruses and spyware? Want a computer that "just works"? Tired of restrictive licenses? Tired of not being able to change it's look to your favourite colour?

Linux has come a long way - even grandmothers can use it!
It's free in both senses of the word - free of cost and free of strings.

Usually a computer will come with a hard disc formatting program on it. Just look in your program listings under start. It is usually found under system tools. Be careful though to back up any important files you might have...

Your computer should have come with a disk for you to do that with. It's called a Recovery CD. If you don't have one, go to Microsoft.com, and maybe you can download one for free.
