The 4 main ingredients are skim milk, sugar, fructose, and cocoa. In other words, milk, sugar, and sugar. Other ingredients include various vegetable oils, emulsifiers, and a dubious vitamin blend. A 375ml (1.5 cups) shake contains 12 grams of protein -- slightly less than what you'd obtain drinking the same amount of 1% low-fat milk. This same shake contains 38 grams of carbohydrates -- 20 grams more than if you drank the equivalent amount of 1% low-fat milk (with those additional carbs coming from the added sugar). Considering that milk contains significant amounts of vitamins A and D, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B12, Calcium, Phosphorous, Magnesium and Zinc, I'd suggest that you chuck the Slim Fast shakes (vitamin blend and all), and simply drink milk instead.

The Slim Fast Diet is seriously, fundamentally flawed. It's expensive and ineffective. The nutritious shakes are anything but -- you'd be better off drinking low fat milk. Caloric levels are much too low, and muscle mass is threatened.

In the end, this diet continues to sell because of the marketing dollars behind it, the simplicity of the plan, and the general lack of dieting fundamentals by the buying public.

Slim-Fat is very good for increasing the amount of body fat but decreasing total bodyweight. if more people would actually take the time to monitor the body fat they would see that the "results" from Slim Fast are less than optimum. the 2nd largest ingredient is sugar and it's right on the label and people still buy that garbage.

As in any diet aid..some of them do help curb your appetite. I have tried the slim fast shakes and they do fill me up, but remember, the best way to get the weight off is to eat less and move around more. Watch what you eat and become a bit more active. It worked for me. Good luck

Well if you only drink the shakes you do lose weight. I did it for a week once & lost 5 pounds. Side effect is extreme hunger.
