I enjoy walking and taking my two year old German Shepherd into stores like PetCo, but whenever he sees another dog he thinks he has to go up to it and meet it. I'm afraid the way he pulls and lunges toward the other dog may come off as looking like aggression. He has never been aggresive, just playful. Will he grow out of this?

My dog was trained as a K-9 dog and I have also taken him through an obedience class. He is very well behaved with the exception of meeting other dogs on walks or in stores.

It's a part of socialization. I wouldn't discourage it. It is extremely important for your dog to be well socialized. As long as he's not showing aggression, let him meet some friends. Just be aware and careful--other dogs could be the aggressors.

How is your dog on walks does he pull and tug you the same way? It's nice to have friendly dogs but they still have to abide by you. Before I take my dogs in to a pet store I make sure we do a quick 10-15 minute walk around the store. This does a few things 1) Takes the "car ride" anxiety out of them. 2) bathroom break 3) Calms them down, so they can act accordingly.

To tell you the truth, you are not in control of your dog if this is the actions he is displaying. I think you should take some basic obedience classes. One thing you have to remember your dog should only "meet and greet" whom YOU want him to meet and greet.

Your dog is just playful, but that playfulness might turn into agression. Just like people, dogs are curious about anything new or new animals. Try to disiplin him when he lunges, if nesesary using a choke collar or trainer's advice. Good luck.

Sounds like you need to sign up for pet training to help you with that problem. Dogs are pack animals and like to socialize

He may, my two year old dog does that too. But i think if people see this dog and its tail is waging then they wont think he is being aggressive.

He's a dog, that's what they do. Try tugging back on his leash a bit when he does that. Eventually, he should get tired of it and will stop.
