Ecclesiastes 1:4 "A generation is going, and a generation is coming; but the earth is standing even to time indefinite" The earth will never be destroyed. What will come to an end is evil on the earth. The Bible gives many details as to what the end times will be like ( Matt 24: 1-50) It does not give an exact date because God wants people to follow him out of love. If we knew the exact date there would be too many that would wait till the last minute to "turn around" and serve him just to be saved. The world will never end but will be created new after the 1000 year milinium. But the world will be desolate for that 1000 years because the wicked will be dead and the righteous will be in heaven sitting in judgement. A likely day for the second coming and the beginning of the 7th milinium would be april 3, 2011 if the great tribulation begins aug. 8th of this year. This is based on the fact that the great tribulation will be 1335 days according to daniel 12.
