You could do meatballs or roast beef in a crockpot and have rolls for sandwiches. You could also do a tray of assorted lunchmeats and specialty breads. Any kind of pasta such as baked ziti or manicottis are always a hit. You can also do cold pasta salad or macaroni salad. You could do exotic wraps with ingredients such as sundried tomatos, avacados, artichoke hearts, etc. Another popular item is twice-baked potatos.

If you're serving lasagna, serve bread and salad. Add some nice appetizers to add flair: bruschetta is good, good cheese and crackers with fresh fruits is good. Trader Joe's has a really nice selection of party finger foods (they have scampi shrimp if you want it and other choices) and some really nice deserts that would round out your feast.

If the after party is going to be an outside affair, I would recommend food items that could sit in a slow cooker or warmer then be transferred outside:
- BBQ pulled pork for sandwiches
- baked or pinto beans
- sloppy joe meat
Also other good items would be:
- deviled eggs
- sliced deli meat and cheese tray
- potato salad
- pigs in a blanket
- popcorn chicken (from Chick-Fil-A if you have one near you)
If the party is going to be an inside affair, the Italian food sounds great.

BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs. There are tons of salads that can be made ahead of time. Fresh fruit or cookies/brownies work good for dessert.

It sounds like a great time to have a BBQ. All Dads including you and I are great outdoor cooks. So get some ribs, and steaks, burgers or hot dogs and very important BEER and have fun
