If there are any windows in your garage cover them, & turn off the lights inside the garage and he should head out the door (note doesn't work during the night, but then again birds sleep too). If that doest work you can turn all the lights off and spot him with a bright light and quickly grab / net him ( be carefull they are somewhat fragile) and simply put him outside, hummingbirds don't fly in the dark and the sudden light should blind him for a moment. If the hummingbird seems attracted to a light ( I've seen it happen a few times) let it get near and use a net or towel to grab him and let him go outside.
Good luck

How long has it been in your garage? And are you sure it is a hummingbird? Humming birds, because they use up so much flying energy, need to eat almost constantly or else they could starve. Do you have a humming bird feeder? Refill it and stay away from the garage door. If you don't have a feeder put some suger-water in a dish elevated near the garage door. hopefully it will go away.

You should leave the hummingbird in the garage because the hummingbird might have a nest and eggs. DO NOT TRY TO TAKE THE HUMMINGBIRD OUT. Your the luckiest person alive because you get to see a humming bird alive.

If you don't have a hummingbird feeder, put a bowl of sugar water near the door and see if that will entice it close to the exit so it will see the way out.
Put the bowl on something "red"...hummingbirds are attracted to red flowers.
Hummingbirds while in flight have the highest metabolism of all animals, and because of this they must feed constantly...at any given moment, they are only hours away from starving.
Stay away from the door yourself...that might be why it doesn't want to come out.

Just leave it alone with the door wide open. It'll find it's way out on it's own.

Are you sure it's a humming bird. They seldom go into buildings. If it's a barn swallow, it's looking for a nesting place.
Old barns are being torn down making nesting places inside the barn for the barn swallows hard to find, and the eaves made a place for the cliff swallows.

With time, the bird will leave. Have a great week and take this as a great omen.

Get a spray bottle of water and spray it. It will force the bird to take flight..Just do that until its in the direction of the opening. Water won't hurt it.
