How late do shops in Chinatown, NYC stay open?

I have one afternoon to spend in Chinatown, but I can't go there until after 3:30 or 4 in the afternoon. Do things stay open into the early evening, or should I not waste my time?

They'll be open early/ late afternoon. Especially restaurants for dinner. I'd say it starts closing up anywhere from 9 to 11 pm.

its basically a street market (Canal st) and they stay open till at least 5pm, maybe even longer.
