Maderma is one of the best over the counter medicines. If the scar is very new try 100% pure aloe from the aloe plant , cut one of the stems off and open it up, the inside contains a clear and very slimy gel and does not smell the best but, it REALLY works! Apply the gel often keep the unused portion of the cut plant in the refrigerator, store it in a plastic baggie until ready to use again. It is truly amazing the results you will see. It is great for burns and other wounds as long as they are not open or oozy. Use it on small cuts too in place of a sauve, it will not burn or stain fabric either. The aloe plant is one of the best kept secrets in wound healing, it saved my sister from severe scars after her entire arm caught fire in the kitchen. After her wounds began to close and no longer ooze she put aloe on it several times a day without telling her Dr. He was amazed when he saw her for a follow up exam. When she told him what she was using he said "it's a good thing you did not tell me you were using that or I would have told you not to" The outcome is a miracle she has NO marks or scars on her entire arm !!! Her Dr said she should have had severe scars and she has none!

Aside from seeing a dermatologist try this: buy some vitamin E "capsules" at your local store...prick the capsule with a pin and apply the "gel" to your scars. Nothing is a cure all, but this in time might help lighten the scaring. Good Luck

i've had surgery numerous times and my dermatologist told me to buy Mederma. i never really committed to putting it on my scar every day, but if it works like they say your scars will be less noticable within a month
