yes you did answer your own question. handlers had to breed human aggression out because of breaking up fights.
other breeds will bite anything that gets in to the fight, whereas a pit is focused on the other dog.
the reason pits can be human aggressive is because the owner had to train it to be that way.
so what's your question?

Yes, people are uneducated about pit bulls. Human aggression was specifically bred OUT of the pit bull. They are VERY friendly to humans. And while some of them do tend to have dog aggression, with early socialization this can be prevented as well. I have a 1 year old pit bull who can change anyone's mind about pit bulls. My mom doesn't like dogs, and she HATES pit bulls. Once I got mine, I was sure she wouldn't touch her. Instead, Cadence sits in her lap and gives her kisses on her face, and my mom loves her. In my opinion, a well balanced, well behaved pit bull is the best dog breed. They can be EXCELLENT dogs!
Hey Cav: You should do some more research on pit bulls, and dog attacks in general if you truly believe that. Labs and cocker spaniels are more likely to bite a human that a pit bull. And many 'pit bull attacks' that are reported were actually different dog breeds that someone mistook for a pit bull. And, I was attacked by a GOLDEN RETRIEVER who left scars on my face. Any dog can be raised to be an aggressive dog, and any breed can be raised to be a loving family companion.

I know they are not naturally aggressive towards humans and that they are affectionate, intelligent, trainable dogs but I did learn something new with your post, I did not know that a Pitbull held the highest obedience trial record of all time.
BTW schutzhund trained dogs are NOT human aggressive, schutzhund is a sport and without the sleeve there is no game. My female shepherd has a SCHH I and was also a therapy dog registered with TDI. She could not have been registered with TDI if she were aggressive. Were do people get their info from?

The problem with pit bulls is generally the owners, as they are attractive to people who want strong, aggressive dogs. These people have given the breed a very bad name, because of their own behavior.
Many people encourage their dogs to be aggressive. Dogs can be trained to be gentle. The first thing I teach all of my dogs is not to chew or lick my hands, arms, feet etc.

obedience and aggression are two different things entirely you could schultzhund train a dog who is obedient and listens to commands and is still human agressive
i love my pitt bull, she would never hurt a person, although she will scrap with dogs over an odd look, she is great with my toher five dogs unless they start something, then she finishes it
but the fact remains that defending pitt bulls is not helping them, its just giving people one more reason to do nothing about the growing overpopulation problem of the breed

I have a dog like stormy4 and he is lovable. Although I think you answered your own question, I have to agree with you completely. I have read that Terriers are more aggressive toward other dogs but I have not encountered this problem. My dog loves other dogs, he actually likes to play! Thanks for the positive input on this great breed!

i have a dog that is part pit-rottweiler. we have had her ever since she was a pup. my husband rescued her from a place where she was eating out of the trash to stay alive. the lady said that her pit got pregnant by the rottie next door and she did not care for the pup or what happened to her. we brought her home, cleaned her up, vetted her. and she has been in our house and hearts ever since. she is a total sweetheart.

yeah so? they still suck and should be banned cuz tooo many people think they have to be bred to attack
you cite one example of a good thing abotu a pit bull, there are hundreds and even thousnad of incidents of pit bulls attacking humans but there arent xamples of other breeds being so agressive towards humans

I think you answered your own question...
Since you seem to be very passionate about educating the public on this subject, maybe you would like to participate in trying to get mythbusters test pit bull myths.
