so my father is telling me, you shouldn't be sore the next day after working out and other people are telling me you should. which is it? i started working out again after one month delay (medical reasons) and i feel great, i'm not hurting but i am definatly sore. i went to work today and realized my legs were a tad sore but yet i was able to walk around at work all day and keep up. i think it actually helps that i'm never sitting at work. but i'm not sore sore. i work out on the treadmill for 20-45 minutes for the past three days. i eat fruits and veggies, stay away from unhealthy snacks and i count my calories so that i stay between 1400-1600 a day. i'm trying to lose weight but am i doing this right. i push myself pretty hard i weight 258 now (lost 9 pounds), 6 from before when i worked a month and then a month off and now 3 within these 3 days. i run and jog and walk on the treadmill, i'm starting to do aerobics with weight training dvds tommrow. i have a ton! anyway is this normal

It sounds like you are doing everything right. You should be sore. You have a healthy lifestyle it seems. If you are too sore to do anything you worked too hard. If you don't have any soreness you didn't do enough. If it doesn't hurt you're not building any muscle. It is still good for you though.

Keep up the good habits.

You should feel sore, but not so sore to be worried about it. You're going to have to increase your calories to at least 1700-1800 if you want some of the soreness to pass. If it doesn't bother you that much, your calorie range is ok, but don't keep it up longer than necessary, as it may harm long-term body health.
Increasing protein consumption to at least 60-80 grams will also take away some of the soreness. Water and bananas stop cramps, but you'll still be sore.

It is completely natural to feel that pain after working out. All it means is that your muscles haven't been worked out like that in a long time so of course they are going to be sore. My husband is a body builder and he said that if you do not feel that soreness, your either not working out right, or your not working out long enough. So if you feel sore the next day, that's a good thing, just means your body is getting the workout it needs. Hope this helps and good luck!

Sounds like you have a good program going stay with it. Personally I like the feeling of slight soreness then I know my workout was effective. And yes it is normal.

Being 'sore' is a signal that you have broken down muscle fiber while exercising. This is not a bad thing. Its the first step in a process that allows you to grow bigger and stronger muscles through exercise - especially heavy weight training.

The muscle fibers must break down and become sore inorder for your body to heal the fibers with amino acids (proteins) and other goodies from your diet , which then make them bigger and stronger.

Muscles break down with exercise, and muscles grow bigger and stronger with proper nutrtion (diet) and plenty of rest.

if ur sore ur working out way to much. If u never ran before and then started to run out of nowhere for a long time then thats really bad. you have to pase ur self like one week star with 10min. and htne next go up and after your done strech so u WONT be sore. if your still sore relax dont run anymore just take your time dont start off big all of a sudden your body isnt used to it yet!! so sometimes its okay to be sore but just take sometime off

You normal hurt the day after working out. Its good to drink water after and have a lite snack. If you hurt right away tho, you may have pulled something.

you dont have to be sore where its hard to walk, if you feel some kind of burn than your doing good. If you feel nothing than you may need to increase the intensity of your workout. but you seem to have everything going for your on your diet. Good Luck and Congrats on the weight loss so far
