It sounds like you have lumbar subluxation which is causing pinching of the nerve (the "pinching" is the disc rubbing up against the nerve)
Have your local doctor of chiropractic have a look. If gone untreated, this can turn in to a disc herniation and the longterm disability could arise from that and osteoarthritis (arthritis).
www.acatoday.com is a good reference to answer your questions - but it sounds like you definately have a chiropractic condition.

Of course I don't know if this is the same thing as what your problem is, but I had a similar problem when I first started working white collar type of jobs. I started having an almost constant, dull but uncomfortable, pain on the left side maybe 4 or 5 inches below my belt line. What it turned out to be was that I was causing inflamation in the area. I'm right handed so I use the mouse with my right hand, and in doing so, I was always sort of leaning a tiny little bit onto my left side. The repetitiveness of doing this all day was causing a bit of stress to the area and causing it to become inflamed. I corrected the problem by simply training myself to distribute my body weight evenly while sitting at the computer.

Hi there. Ive had the same pain you are talking about and it turned out to be a lumbar disc protrusions for which I have had two lots of surgery.
When a disc protrusion happens in the lumbar spine, part of the disc is pushing against the nerves which are associated with your legs, this is commonly referred to as sciatic pain. Have a look at this site which can explain a little more in depth.
www.back.com/causes-mechanical-herniated.html
I would suggest to you and see a doctor, they will most likely send you for a CT scan or MRI which will tell them if this is the cause of the pain. If it is, there are a number of treatments that are available to try and reduce the protrusion such as exercise or an epidural.
To try and reduce the pain, see a physio as they will be able to offer treatment, but also give you a series of exercises which will strengthen your core muscles which hold your spine.
Hope this has helped you out, and if you want to know anymore, feel free to email me.
Good luck!

Sounds like a bulging disc, usually it means that the cartilage is protruding out and placing pressure on your spinal column when you move in certain ways it can cause greater pain. A complete "slip disc" would cause excruciating pain all the time except when still, you probably could not even attempt to bend in any direction.Although I could be wrong, but maybe see an chiropractor...they could tell you better and help fix the problem or give pain management.

I have the exact same kind of pain. I'm going to physical therapy for it now, as you probably should do to. they told me two of the knobs in my spine were rotated and hitting a nerve causing it to shoot pains down in my leg. i've been going to physical therapy and its helped a great deal already. mine was a result of a car accident and then lifting something a little too heavy but the physical therapist said it can happen from even lifting something small or moving anything or anything like that.

Yes, I have had the same problem. You may have damage to your sciatic nerve. Which some call sciatica. You can take over the counter naproxen which will help tremendously, but see a doctor to get a scan to check out your vertabrae and cervical disks to make sure nothing is pinched or herniated.
