I know there is a difference it's something like the use by date you can it is ok to consume a couple of days after or something like that.

sell by
a sell by date will contain the last date a shop can legally sell a product
best before is a recommendation date, that the food will taste best before that date, after which the food may have started to go off
useby also on perishable food. after that date the food is likely to start to go off

Loosely the "Best before date" is like canned soda where the quality deteriorates after a certain period of time. The "Use By date" means it becomes unfit to consume after a certain period of time. Both dates usually (except meat) leave some room for error so that it is still safe to use for a while after the date. I would not take chances with expired meat, poultry, and milk.

They are both the SAME. After those dates the quality is not as good as they were intended to be. It doesn't mean the next day after those dates that they are bad just it is better to eat it before that date.

The use date is when the food has to be eaten by and the best used date is when the food will taste best.

The use by date must be consumed by that date.
The best before date is a suggested date. It can be still consumed past this date.

use by date is for meat and other animal products. it means throw it out if its after the date because they can grow mold and bacteria that will make you sick.
the best before date is on crackers and chips and stuff and its ok to eat a few days after. it just means that the product is best if eaten before that date.

best before date is when it should be off the store shelf and used soon after. use by date is the date it should be gone or discarded.

i think the use by date is like when it will become nasty and the best before date is when it will taste best. You know like you could eat it after the best by date, but it wont be guaranteed fresh.

They are both suggestions. A gallon of milk doesn't look at a calendar. If I had one that said use by 16 Mar, it would still be fine today, but I'd need to use it up quick.

Use by means just that. Best before means it will lose quality but not hurt ya.
