I agree with you it seems kind of selfish.
did he die only for his followers or for all mankind?
if its for all mankind then that should be irregardless of what they believe.

It is not a return for his deed he is asking for. The reason why he died on the cross is so that our sins can be forgiven. All he asks is that we live in him, do what is right, tell others about the sacrifice and avoid the tricks of the evil one. But seriously, we can't have that life if we don't belive in him and love him. How can we truly benefit if we have doubts or don't even know that he exists and is alive right now.

Jesus died on a torture stake to prove that a perfect man could keep his integrity to Jehovah even if it meant death.
Mankind was sold into sin and death because Adam failed his responsibility to Jehovah by eating the fruit from the tree Jehovah had set aside for himself.
We benefit from Jesus Ransom Sacrifice because of the promise made in Genesis 3:15, 16.

1) Christ died for mankind POTENTIALLY. Not everyone accepts and gets in.
2) it wasn't a just a good deed. Christ died for the purpose of humankind getting to know God personally, but accepting Him is the condition. He isn't looking for a return on His "good deed", as do you think person saying "thanks Christ!" is a good enough reward for someone who was hated/beaten/forced to carry a cross while they're bleeding/mocked/spit upon/crucified? I wouldn't...

He is not asking for anything in return except for faith and recognition that he is our savior for OUR own sakes! He wants for us to believe in him so that we may have everlasting lives in heaven. He is already in heaven and he already has everlasting life so he is just trying to look after us and have us have the same instead of being in hell. Hell is described as a torturous place and extremely unpleasant to say it lightly. He doesnt want that for us he wants salvation because he loves us..he proved it when he gave he only begotten son for our sins. Jesus endured a great deal for us..why cant we just do the same for him? Why cant we love him as he loved us? Why cant we sacrifice our life to him (metaphorically) like he did?

He didn't die in the cross. You cant get inside a cross. That would be a great method of torture a cross shaped box. You just stretch the victim out in it and lock the lid.Could you imagine how long it would take for him to go bonkers?

Jesus was a smart man that walked the earth, if he knew he was going to die on the cross, why did he rely so strongly on people to pass the word down if it wasn't written down until decades later?
...and if we don't believe it then we are going to burn in hell forever?

Missionaries declare that the blood sacrificial device is guy’s merely desire for atonement; they insist that there could be no forgiveness of sin without the laying off of blood. they shop that the Bible gadgets forth merely blood atonement to expiate sin. Evangelical Christians assert that for the previous nineteen centuries, because of the fact the destruction of the 2d Temple in 70 C.E., the Jewish human beings lacked the essential and necessary animal sacrificial device for atonement. hence, they shop, God ought to have provided a blood atonement as against the animal sacrifices of the previous. This sacrifice, they insist, is the dying of Jesus on the flow. In help of their declare that atonement can merely be accomplished interior the direction of the laying off of blood, missionaries cite right here verse: it is because of the fact the life of the flesh is interior the blood, and that i've got given it to you upon the altar to make atonement on your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul. (Leviticus 17:11) The Church appeals to this verse to teach that the blood of the flow is guy’s merely desire for salvation and the insurance that God will forgive his sins. based on this argument, I even have defined that opposite to the missionary declare that blood sacrifice is the only technique of atonement, the Bible needless to say prescribes 3 techniques of atonement: the sin sacrifice, repentance, and charity. apart from, the sin sacrifice (talked approximately as interior the Jewish Scriptures as korban chatat) did no longer make amends for all sorts of sin, yet quite, merely for guy’s maximum insignificant iniquity: unintentional sins. The sin sacrifice became inadequate to make amends for a transgression dedicated intentionally. The brazen sinner became barred from the sanctuary, and had to bear his very own iniquity because of the fact of his revolt against God. The Torah teaches this needed theory: If a guy or woman sins by accident, then he shall grant a one-300 and sixty 5 days-previous woman goat for a sin offering. The priest shall make atonement until now the Lord for the guy who is going off beam whilst he sins by accident, making atonement for him that he could be forgiven ...the guy who does something defiantly, no remember if he's community or an alien, that one is blaspheming the Lord; and that guy or woman would be cut back off from between his human beings, because of the fact he has despised the word of the Lord and has broken His commandment, that guy or woman would be thoroughly cut back off; his guilt would be on him. (Numbers 15:27-31)

He want you to believe IN HIM. Not for what he did. He loves each and everyone of us, and all he ever wanted to do was to love us and give us a chance to live eternal life in heaven.
