Normally, we use our memory. But is memory reliable? How can we prove this? By saying, "I remember one time when I lost my keys but then remembered where I left them?" Isn't that using memory to prove memory is reliable? That's circular reasoning. Any suggestions?

Whatever happened, either we remember or not, is gone, and theres nothing we can do about it to get back.

Metaphysically, time is distinguished as absolute and real. Absolute time is continuous and is unaffected by the speed or slowness of material things. Time is astronomically and mathematically calculated in relation to the speed, change and life of a particular object. Factually, however, time has nothing to do with the relativities of things; rather, everything is shaped and calculated in terms of the facility offered by time. Time is the basic measurement of the activity of our senses, by which we calculate past, present and future; but in factual calculation, time has no beginning and no end. Even a slight fraction of time cannot be purchased with millions of dollars, and therefore even a moment of time lost without profit must be calculated as the greatest loss in life. Time is not subject to any form of psychology, nor are the moments objective realities in themselves, but they are dependent on particular experiences.

You can't always rely on memory because some events, if lost from the memory, could be replaced with false ones, that are different. What you need is a record, a written fact for any past thing that happened, would be easier to track.

Do u remember what you did yesterday?? That`s the past and all we do is relate the scenario to someone else who may or may not believe you.Of course it is reliable..your education is your past...do you not remember being educated? That`s not circular reasoning that`s recall..created by PAST experiences which in itself is proof that the past existed.

When we look at a star twinkle we are looking at the past life of that star. That light took years to get to us.

If we realize that time equals distance divided by velocity, then we realize that if an object moved from point A to point B then it required time to pass.

Incidentally, the past is analogous to the Holy Spirit, coming from the Father (the future) through Jesus Christ (the present).

There's scientific evidence to prove the existence of the past. Ever hear of Darwin?

Well, if you can't scientifically prove that the past exists, it must surely not exist! In fact to believe in the past, you have to be against science!

I hope you mean proving it to yourself, because that's what really matters.
I wouldn't doubt my memory that the past
exists, but I would question my interpretation of what actually happened, which is what you're really asking..

How do we know today exists then? What about the future?
This is Just like proving God exists, you must get past your own...'logic'.
