Ok, Im a sophomore in high school, and for freshmen, and the first part of sophomore year, I received alot of D's and F's out of laziness. Now in my second semester, I have a 3.8, is there any chance that if I continue to get good grades that I can still get into college ?

I lived in japan because my parents are in the military, so moving back to the states right after freshmen year took a little adjusting.

Absolutely, if you get good grades from here on out you will be able to get into college -- the better you do, the better the college. You'll probably need to do some explaining in your essay and interview, but colleges actually like someone who shows that they had a change of heart, and now can know what it means to apply themselves and take education seriously.

It may be that you won't be able to get into the absolute top rank (Harvard Yale etc etc), but you don't know, and you can always move up the ladder if it interests you, even after high school -- if you do well as a freshman in one college, you can often transfer into a college you didn't qualify for out of high school.

The point is, if you keep trying, improvement does indeed help your chances.

Of course. I played around in high school. Came out with a 2.6 GPA and still got into college. No one cares about what you got in highschool by the time you graduate college. Try state universities. University of Texas usually takes anyone as long as you have money. I worked my *ss off in college and I graduated w/ honors. You can do it. Just don't play around too much.

Is your 3.8 on a 4.0 scale or a 12.0 scale? If it is 4.0 then you are fine, why would you even worry. Now if it is on the 12.0 scale, you better study your butt off from now until graduation. Good luck!
