My dog is a pure bred Samoyed and is 11-12 years old. I've been noticing a decrease is energy and he is always liking himself. His paw have tured red because every time he sits down, he begins liking them. As he liking his paws, it begins to have a strong sour odor. Really strong. It stinks up the whole house! I don't know what's gotten into him!

He may have a number of disorders that need to be treated. Take him to the veterinarian. He could have a fungal infection, diabetes, or other disorders.

Since you mention the smell once he begins licking and turning red, it could mean one of his paws is infected or has some sort of skin afliction on it. Try checking between his toes for redness--could mean an infection due to dirt or something stung him there. And take him to the vet!

One other reasons for licking his paws could be allergies--one of my dog has allergies, and she'd lick her paws so much that the fur would rub off and nothing but raw, red skin would be left. Boredom is another cause of paw licking. But neither of these explain the strong smell he's causing.

Please take him to the vet. The symptoms he has are not something to ignore until they go away--because they probably will get worse, not go away!

He could have developed allergies. Licking feet is a very common sign of allergies. The odor could be coming from his feet. Constant licking can cause yeast and bacterial build up, both of which smells prett bad.
Food allergies commonly causes paw licking, but there are others as well.
His age has nothing to do with the onset of allergies. It happens in all ages, same as with people.
Talk to your vet...they can help bring him releif.

Your dog needs to see the vet. His paws are infected that's why he keeps licking them. Some dogs out of boredom will lick themselves raw. I think this is what your dog is doing. But right now he needs to go to the vets to get some antibiotics for the paws/ They must be very sore for him.

My dog has really red paws to. It's from seperation anxeity and if you go to thek vet they'll suggest anti-depressions (if he is depressed) and a wash. You put the paw in a bag of this wash and it makes it there wont be any infection
