I paid off a car note , early, held by a private party .
That was 2 months ago have not recieved my title. How long should I wait and what should I do if I don't get it ?

If you paid the Note and have receipt of such, then title belongs to you. Consider a lawsuit.

You better find out where they are and get the title to your car. If they hold the title they can still technicly take it from you if they wanted to be jerks. Unless of coarse you have all documentaion stating an arrangement and all that. Reciets for payments. But get that title. Shold have gotten it right away.

Send them a certified letter. Tell them that the loan is paid in full, and you will expec the title to be surrendered to you within three business days.

If they don't produce the title, notify the district attorney in your county or state.

should have got it soon as you payed for car same day you drove off lot same day you sign it as owner so ten minutes would be a long time for them to hold it so why not ask why they holding it

i own a shop,ands you should really already have it ,id get in touch with them and see what the hold up is on it,they may have forgotten about it,i doubt it but it does happen sometimes,but let them know you need and want it ,they have to return it to you ,just hang on to all your paid receipts other wise they can say you still owe them on it,good luck i hope this helps.
