i am a Christian who fully believes in the Holy Trinity and all the miracles. but let me address the atheists of our time. have you heard any of them say anything that was particularly profound or were they just busy condemning what you might believe. i for one , can not believe that our short life span is all that life has in store for us. God has a better plan.
Most atheists have what I call the Don Quixote Syndrome. Let me explain. Cervantes wrote a book about Don Quixote a long time ago. Don Quixote would attack windmills as if they were his enemies. Of course a windmill is no body's enemy. If what the atheist believes is REALLY his belief, then he would leave people like me alone. After all, if God did not exist, He and His followers would be no enemy to the atheist. We'd just be deluded people.
the famous British philosopher, Bertrand Russell, was regarded as one of the most intelligent people of his decade. he was also an atheist. in his famous lecture "why i am not a christian" he states"i think it is primarily due to fear" he goes on to infer that its fear of the unknown. and later expresses great sadness for not having faith in a higher power on his deathbed. i hope this helps strengthen your faith in some way. thank you.

Atheists shouldn't look down on you but their arguments may make it seem like they are. If you read Sam Harris' book it will give you a perspective into why Atheists might appear hostile. I'll try to summarize. If one is dealing with an "agnostic", common perception is that they reject mainstream religion but believe in God; this is incorrect that is actually a Deist and 70% of the founding fathers of this country were Deists. Agnostics and Atheists are essentially the same. Christians when faced with a Deist don't really feel threatened; he's probably viewed as a wayward Christian who can be brought back into the fold. An Atheist is a whole different creature; by definition he must dismiss everything a Christian, Jew, Muslim believes in. If that Atheist is socially considered a "moral" person; works hard, raises great kids, contributes to the community, is caring and so on, his existance flies in the face of fundamental religious precepts. He rightly can challenge you and dismiss your God as a source of "moral code" for humanity; his very existance proves his point. How can you have a "good man" without the grace of God? According to the Bible you can't, yet they exist all around you. There are ridiculous rebuttals to this like "God is in him, he just doesn't know"; the Bible doesn't allow that because a rejection of the Holy Spirit, which an Atheist would do, is an automatic sentence of damnation without recourse. So if your talking to an Atheist who knows anything about the Bible, he's not supposed to exist and he's damned, that might make him not hold your beliefs into high regard and with contempt.

No...there are just some of us who find it very difficult to believe in a deity. I have christian friends who believe in evolution. They believe that their god created everything and used the Big Bang to start everything and used evolution to create life. Why would that be so hard for a christian to believe? I don't look down on christians...it's the people who refuse to acknowledge that science has discovered things about the earth, such as age, that is hard to disprove. The ToE is a SCIENTIFIC theory which is completely different that a theory like "I have a theory how OJ committed the crimes". Look up scientific theory...it's an eye opener. But unfortunately "some" christians refuse to open their eyes. It's those people who I look down on.

Because wordly people do not want to know the truth. Nobody likes to be shown they are wrong about something, no matter how nicely you say it. If it requires them believing it, they will choose to ignore it because it's easier for them to continue in their sin. When was the last time you met someone who enjoys lying say they wish they didn't and mean it? If they enjoy their sin, they will fight you to stay in it. It's the natural reaction of a caged animal. You can open the cage, but if an animal is afraid, it won't come out into the light. It would rather stay in the dark where it feels safe, not knowing it would be infinitly happier outside.
It is easier to place blame on someone else then accept responsibility for your own actions. It is easier to point a finger at what you dont like because you dont understand it. They fail to live up to the very ideals they talk about and so push to bring you down as well. It is the way of worldly people.
Take heart, for every person who speaks against you because of His name, you are blessed. Be an example of what we are to be, let your actions speak for you. You need not retaliate to taunts or jeers, simply speak the truth and let Him be the judge. Plant the seeds that will be watered by others later, you need not win all you come in contact with every time. Be encouraged that your work will be seen by Him and rewarded, even if you personally arent the one who prays with the new believer who converted, He see's what works you do and you will be compensated. God bless.

Funny, but the greatest scientists were deeply religious. Ancient Greeks, Copernicus, Einstein, for example. So in my opinion, those who believe that Atheists are the knowing or scientifically superior are mistaken.
------------------------------------------
"atheism
Critique and denial of metaphysical beliefs in God or divine beings. Unlike agnosticism, which leaves open the question of whether there is a God, atheism is a positive denial. It is rooted in an array of philosophical systems. Ancient Greek philosophers such as Democritus and Epicurus argued for it in the context of materialism. In the 18th century David Hume and Immanuel Kant, though not atheists, argued against traditional proofs for God's existence, making belief a matter of faith alone. Atheists such as Ludwig Feuerbach held that God was a projection of human ideals and that recognizing this fiction made self-realization possible. Marxism exemplified modern materialism. Beginning with Friedrich Nietzsche, existentialist atheism proclaimed the death of God and the human freedom to determine value and meaning. Logical positivism holds that propositions concerning the existence or nonexistence of God are nonsensical or meaningless." From Britannica Concise Enciclopedia.
------------------------------------------
"Some religions discourage science now, others did it at some point in time, so the opposition has to do with some or all religions, not with The Power, whatever name one uses for It--please notice that The Power is not He, not She, It is timeless and infinite. Energy doesn't die but changes its form, so what is the difference between God and Energy,or Power, what changed? It seems that Atheists changed the name of God to Antigod."--retrieved from "Our Spirit" by K.M.W.Klara

[French athéisme, from athée, atheist, from Greek atheos, godless : a-, without; see a–1 + theos, god.]
One can't be an Atheist=A-Theos=Without-God if there is no Theos=God. that's pure philosophy.
A-theist=opposite of Pro-teist, but a Proteist or Theist is not synonymous with Monotheist.
In my opinion many of so-called Atheists arte basically rebelling against the religion of their childhood or the image of God from their childhood and this is called a growth, or maturity, not necessarily Atheism.

There may be an element of "trendiness" in calling oneself an atheist, particularly among young people who, as we know, love to embrace _any_ trend so long as it's the latest one.
But since western society is becoming generally post-religious, I suspect that at least some of those who embrace atheism because they think it's cool, will hold onto it when they figure out that it's also reasonable and sensible (that is, when they get a bit older and gain some appreciation of reason and sense).

I think it is because there are political officials that try to discredit what the Bible says and they have to have solid proof if God really exists or not. I don't know why but it is getting worse with each and every waking moment. Just don't let them change your views because that's their main goal. Good luck and God bless.

No, it's not "in vogue" to be an atheist.
Why DO you believe in God? DOES it have anything to do with facts and science?
Somehow I doubt it.
