Diarrhea can last a lifetime and it can kill you.
On the bright side, most cases are caused by food poisoning, which is generally very short lived. Keep drinking lots of fluids, as diarrhea can make you dehydrated very quickly. You can take something like Kaopectate, which is inexpensive and over the counter. If you still have it in a week, time to go see the doctor ( and go now if you have a temp over 101 F or develop the chills). Keep your hands clean.

for quick results, empty your system by drinking only fluids. i would suggest gatorade rain in the first 12 or so hours, then take some ensure for protein.
aftern your midterm, please go see a doctor. your diaherra will last as long as the bug is inside of your system. hopefully you don't have irratable bowel syndrome. you can take a pill to stop your diaherrea.

remember that diaherrea is extremely dangerous in the sense that you become dehydrated. please drink lots of fluids and watch your diet. try to eat things that are well cooked. stay away from raw veggies, fried foods, and anything that you think may irratate you.

best of luck~

Depends on why you have diaherra....

If it truly is because of some bad food, depending on how bad the food was maybe 24 hours... again if it was really really bad food, you might have to be hospitalized!

Go to the drug store and get some Imodium... if that doesn't get things better you might want to go to a walk in clinic.

I'd keep from stopping it as long as you can because it helps to get whatever the cause of it is out of your system. Then before your midterm take an over-the-counter anti-diarrhea medication.
As far as how long it lasts, anywhere from 5 minutes---several days.
