Stained wood still needs a top coat finish on it especially if you are going to use it outside, if it has never had a topcoat on it you can buy a exterior polyurethene and put several coats on it sanding lightely and tac cloth off in between coats, other wise the wood is going to warp up, if it were weather treated wood you could just put Thompsons water sealer on it and you woul be good to go...good luck with your project

If it has enough coats of polyurethane on it, you could use it for awhile, but don't expect it to last for a very long time;) It would depend too, on how rainy & humid your climate is where you live, and if it's under a deck, porch or covered area, etc. If it's a really nice table, and one that you want to have for years to come, I wouldn't use it:)

no, you hve to use special sealant for outdoor furniture, especially clear color.
