I'm 19 and all my brothers and sisters started to have children at the ages of 17 and 18. I don't want any children right now and not for a while but at what age would be a good age to start a family? I'm in college and am going for a degree in archaeology and it'll take a while. I know I should finish school and start a career but I'm afraid by that time I may be too old and won't have enough time. When should I start a family? How old is too old? I've always wanted a big family because I grew up in one and loved it. I also want to get degrees in other areas as well and that will take up more time. I need some advice.

Accomplish what you want to accomplish first, otherwise there will be no time for just you. I dont think there is a deffinate age but make sure you graduate and get a job that can support a child... If you wait util you can afford the kid, their life and yours will be alot better off. Recommendation on an age is 27, which would make you 45 when you child is 18 that way you are still young enough to have a life after the nest empties. Too old for a man... with health risks I would say 45, and for a woman 38. Those are both due to the fact that risk birth defects go up after the parents turn 40. Take your time... give yourself time to find the right person and accomplish you goals

I know girls tend to like to start families in late twenties, most popularly 27. And then you start to build up your family. I would say if you want a big family, you could always start at 25, no prob, and by that time, most will have finished their first 4 years and are starting on other stuff, if not working already. You can always still support a family while still in school, many do.
