The funny thing about being a cop is, we go to state funded schools/academies who approve trainning methods for us to use on the streets. Once we get on the streets and we use these techniques we put ourselves in reason to be sued etc.. and when that happens the departments, cities, states etc.. do not back us up, in most cases we don't even bother with most of the stuff that happens, and for that someone will complain, I do a walking beat which I love, I know the shop owners the regulars at the bars etc. So I'm standing at a intersection watching for M/V infractions at a posted "No Left Turn" and some woman approaches me with a snobby remark "Glad to see your deterring crimes Mr. Officer". But without getting into to much of a rant. One of the things I learned on the job has been that the career criminals will always be respectful when caught and I even had some say "hey I got caught, I will still do it again and next time I won't get caught". It's petty criminals and the little silver spoon in hand wanna be street lawyers (who btw all know their rights) that are the ones resisting, check out the boston PD video on youtube and see what I mean, the kid had 8 officers there and still wouldn't give up on Lansdownes street with 1000+ people watching. heh....But like most cops would say, "If I wanted respect I would have become a firefighter".

Dont you think they should have to be like the Military and go every morning and do PT, lol.... I know the ones in this town, and if I ever get in trouble I am going to run, they will never catch me, they would run out of breath in like 30 ft...

As much I as I follow the law, I can honestly say I don't like cops. It seems they will have no charge then come up with resisting arrest just as away of getting an arrest. I noticed it is mostly the younger cops that do this, older ones will be more relaxed.

Police officers are trained to give clear and concise orders to people. Police Officer training is pretty much standardized across the nation. That is how they are trained to arrest people that have resisted to shown signs of resisting. Many times a person will resist by putting the hands and arms under the body and not allowing the officers to handcuff them. this is more along the lines of passive resistance. many times the officers trying to get the arms out has to get help.

get a friend and have him lie face down put his hands under his body and have him grab his wrists or hands. then you try and get him to let go. then you will understand.

How does the police know that you aren't resisting? or even grabbing a weapon? I am not condoning this pratice, but I don't condemn it either. I think it would be tough to be a police men now a days. I just aviod getting into those situations that you see on "COPS"

Cops do that to make people around think your resisting
so it gives them reason to use unnecessary force. Most cops are people who were picked on in high school or had low self esteem so they get off on having the power to push people around.

it is that the person is not allowing the officers to move thier arms, they are resisting. Watching them also, and they are being much nicer than what would happen in real life.

Maybe, just maybe, the police get tired of thugs! Given their working conditions and the fact their lives are on the line everyday, I think they do their very best!!!!
