Driving with the overdrive off wastes fuel because the engine turns a faster RPM. As was stated, this is why overdrives were created.

Not only are you wasting gas, your putting more stress on the engine, transmission and drive system. You are running the transmission very hot from friction, especially at those speeds, which causes the ATF fluid to break down faster, decreasing lubrication and causing wear.

Leave the overdrive on.

I am a mechanic and I am telling U that it will eventually mess up your transmission. It may not happen right away but it will happen. Also, your gas mileage will suffer a lot. That's what overdrive was designed for.
If U try to defeat the purpose then U will suffer in the long run.

Pay me now or pay me later.!

Your engine will wear out slightly faster and you will use more fuel with the overdrive off. That's about it.

It won't mess up anything, you'll just put more wear on it and use up a lot more gas than you would have used if the over drive was on.
