Because the aliens they worship taught them everything they know, and of course that is superior to our knowledge.

I do not know a lot about Scientology, but what I do know seems very strange and difficult to believe. With that having been said, however, I do believe that many people in Scientology are aware of the widespread deception under which people these days are living, and science and medicine are two areas in which it is manifested. I believe myself that the concept of "mental health" is a fraud. Modern medicine, including psychiatry, can be used to make people better, or to deliberately make them sicker. You MIGHT say, it takes a crook, liar and thief to recognize another one. I am not cynical about all of medicine, but I am about a lot of it.
What does it take to get on the System? What kind of compromise is required? What is required by the System in terms of payment of ongoing dues, when the System itself seems to be controlled by Gnostic Freemasons and those with similar ideologies and practices. Gnostics try to keep good and bad in equal proportion and balance.
I do not think that Scientologists are the best medical minds in the country (I presume you mean the USA) or in the world. I do think that they are on to the System in general, and on to the fraud and the deception.

To believe in Scientology you buy the whole doctrine written by one of the biggest pshycotic ,ego-maniac's of our time L. Ron Hubbard.Have you not paid any attention to Tom Cruise lately ? He's exhibiting all the sign's himself. It's all about absolute power and control ,no different than any other "cult".Sad he now has a baby that will never be allowed to choose.Take care. SW FNP

For the same reason most religions think they are better than the best philosophers, gender sociologists, and evolutionary biologists--it is their faith in a higher or different mode of thought. It may sound kooky to you but examine some of your own beliefs and see if they all fall in line with the leading minds of our time. I know not all mine do.

They don't think they're "better", necessarily, just more enlightened. They DO think that there is a massive conspiracy orchestrated by psychiatrists... so I'd wager they think they're at least better than THOSE medical minds.

Everybody thinks their the best! When you belong in a particular sect, group, etc etc. You become so close-minded to listen to other people's opinion.
