I dated a guy that was out of the country for 4 months. It worked out alright. Expect that while he's there he will be meeting a lot of new people and having a lot of new experiences. He won't have as much time to miss you as you will have to miss him. But that doesn't mean he's forgetting about you. If you are in a serious relationship, theres no need to make it an open relationship.

U dont say why hes going away.If u love him & you want 2 b with him long term & ur going 2 miss him then u should want 2 wait.If u dont want 2 wait then u may not love him as much as u think u do.Is he going 2 wait 4 u & b faithful. Why do u want 2 consider an open relationship.Answer these questions & u may know better what direction ur relationship is going in.

It will definitely be hard. My fiance (was my boyfriend at the time) left for 5 months to go overseas in the military. We had a strong enough relationship that we both trusted each other and I knew that it would be a happy day when I saw him again. It was really hard and I missed him a lot but I wrote to him every day or every other day and it helped a lot. Especially when I would get a letter or call from him. If your relationship is strong enough, you will make it work. And when he gets back your relationship will actually be stronger.

Only you can answer that. Generally an open relationship can work, I've seen friends do it when they go travelling for a year themselves. If all you're gonna do is fret and worry what he's doing while he's gone then either end it now and try to take up again when he gets back or go with him. Or better yet go off travelling somewhere else yourself!

Well it best you talk to him about the open relationship. Most likely he will be open to it because it put less pressure on him about try to be faithful to you because long distance don't really work out and what if you find someone while he gone? This way it will be easy for both of you.

It sounds like you've already moved on. It's all about you and you having someone to spend time with. You're not going to miss him but you're going to miss how he makes you feel, so you need someone else who will make you feel that way while he is gone. If you really love him, you can be loyal to him and have fun with friends. It doesn't sound like you feel that loyalty to him. Do him a favor and move on so he can do the same.

depends on how long yall been together, if you been together less then a year, then u should have a open realationship, but if u been with him for a year + then you might want to stick it out. That also depends on what he's leaving for who leaves a person they love.
