All tonsil and throat infections are not caused by just "strep",it does account for the majority. There are "viral" infections that don't cause such painful symptoms as the "strep" does.Bacterial and vral sinusitis are also a possibility. Many people carry around bugs like these and have no symptoms, but are able to infect others, especially close to the family. You could always go back to your MD,to recheck,it may be positive for strep now,and antibiotics would be indicated. Take care. SW FNP

You can have a throat infection that is not Strep. If you have already had a course of antibiotics and you aren't better, call your doctor and report this. They can try a different med. Tell them if you have fever or are spitting up anything and what color it is. I hope you get better soon!!

Try using those Breathe-Right strips for your nose when you sleep. You'll breathe through your nose more and won't have a sore throat the next day, or the next, or the next.

You probably have a really bad sore throat. It will go away. I have that before. Just take some pain meds and it should go away soon.

You could have allergies, which cause congestion in your sinuses, which causes post-nasal drip, which causes a sore throat.
