I feed my cats the recalled food as well as Friskies. I took all of them to the vet today and asked the very same question. He told me that Friskies was safe. Unfortunately they did suffer some kidney damage from eating the recalled food.

Menu Foods, the primary "manufacturer" of pet food for the top national brands on the US has more information on their website.

From what I have been able to find, only canned/pouched foods were affected. Not dry kibble.

Checkout a couple of my source links for more info. If you are thinking about calling, you really should just wait for a couple of days and switch to dry food until you can get through. My companies phone number is so similar to the friskies/purina line that I've received SOOO many misdialed calls today about this issue.

I hope any of you affected are able to treat your pets before anything serious happens.

Friskies is a safe product!! So save in fact that I bet their sales will be way up this week as everyone that has used another product rushes to replace their re-called product.

If Friskies was not part of the recall, it is safe.

i myself have 3 cats&3 dogs, i too checked the info on the site provided this a.m., i feed my dogs alpo, and the cats 9 lives, (wet&dry) i would like to think that if the names aren't on the lidst then it should be safe to feed it to our pets, they can't go hungry, and unless u feed them any brand that is on sale or have coupons for when u shop i wouldn't be that concerned, u can also phone the #800 provided if ur still unsure

well it depends on how old ur cat is i mean i only give my cats canincat food 2 a year because its really not good for them. but u should ask ur vet. on whats the best diet for ur cat. all cats need different diets. if its a kitten and ur trying to get it to eat hard food u mix canin cat food w/ hard food thats what i do when i foster kittens. it works. but yea ask ur vet that question he/she knows more abt ur cat health than me or u.HOPE THIS HELPS!

I'm sorry. My 10 year old daughter answered that last question. BTW, if Friskies isn't on the list, don't worry about giving it to your kitty.
