They are extremely strong for their size. They are bouncy and have a lot of energy-they need lots of walks.
They are great with people and kids-very affectionate- and OK with dogs of the opposite sex but tend to be dominant with other dogs of the same sex. This can lead to fights.
If their dominant streak gets them into a fight with another dog of the same sex or if another dog of either sex attacks them you can pretty much guarantee that the bull terrier will win-that is unless it's opponent is another of it's breed or a similar breed like a staffie,in which case who knows.
In fights they are known for biting their enemies throat and not letting go-to make them let go shove a stick or similar object through their collar and twist so it chokes them and makes them let go.

My advice to you would be to get a good book on them, read it well, i own two myself and did the same before i got mine, i also sat down and had a good chat to quite a few breeders and owners of the breed, before finaly getting mine and it was the best thing i could have done, they have been great pets, they did need a firm hand when they were puppies, but have grown up to be stunning, i even take one of them to a local school for children with learning and phisical disabilities as a therapy dog, she loves those children and they love her too.
If you get a male dog be prepared for some stubborness in the begining same as a female dog realy but i find they aren't quite as bad, if you want to contact me about them i am quite happy to answer your questions, just e-mail me

We have a wonderful English Bull Terrier - Her name is Diva and she is just over a year old. i couldn't have asked for a more loving pet she is full of energy, has an amazing sense of adventure and humour and is exceptionall with other dogs!
These animals need lots of love and care but the rewards are worth it - train your EBT and you will have nothing but pleasure from you dog. best of luck!

They can have a vicious streak and whenever you take it out and other people with dogs see it they will get wary. I've never thought it was worth getting dogs like Bull Terriers, Rotweillers, Pitbulls etc. There have been lots of cases of these dogs suddenly turning on the owner or attacking another dog or child. Seriously its not worth it.

Do your research before buying one, they are not for everyone. Contact the Breed Clubs for informed information & make sure you buy from a reputable breeder
