I don't know where to turn. Pain clinic, been there. Physcial theropy, been there,.Do i find another dr? If my dr can't see something nothing wrong in ex-ray, i shouldn't be in pain. Taking narcotics is the only way i can cope, but i can't take them forever. What can i do?

The doctor can't tell whether you have pain or not from an xray. It sounds like you should go to a new knee specialist. This guy may be partially incompetant.

It's not uncommon to still have some pain 6 months after a total knee arthroplasty. You don't say what was recommended by the pain clinic or how long you did physical therapy. Both have great resources to help you heal and cope with the pain, and more resources than your orthopaedic surgeon. To be perfectly honest, I work for an orthopaedic surgeon and most of our phone calls are requests/demands for pain meds. Your doctor can't justify keeping you on pain meds long term, he has to protect his license. Ask to be evaluated for RSD ( Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) I don't know alot about it, but some post op patients who have intractable pain and we refer to a pain clinic end up with that diagnosis.

Narcotics cause rebound pain. When you have been on them a while (and you have) and then you don't take them regularly, you will have an increase in pain. It's just rebounding. If you got off the narcotics all together, I bet your pain would go away. If not, at least the doctors could assess your knee better.
