My doctor gave me vicodin for my chronic abdominal pain (ulcer, gastroparesis and adhesions) and I've never really taken much of it (it took me a year to use 30 pills). But this past week I've taken it every night, not only because of my stomach hurting but because I've wanted to go to sleep. I don't crave vicodin except for when I want to go to bed at night. Am I getting addicted to it? I'm only taking 10mg once a day so that isn't too bad right?

I've been tempted to take vicodin for sleep but limit my use only for pain. Sometimes I can go for days without it then need it every day for a while. I took 3 per day for 10 months and now take about 15 per month. I believe that the key is to only take it when you have pain or feel pain coming on. No, you're not doing bad at all, in fact you're doing super but don't be afraid that you'll get adicted just taking vicodin for pain. Don't give in to taking vicodin only for sleep.... use something else.

I have been taking it for over a year. Sometimes I have taken it for month's at a time. Now I only use it when I'm really hurting. My doctor had me take 2 Alive in the morning, and 2 at night for the last two weeks. Try that instead and see if it helps.

That is a low dose. my experience with vicodin is that your body may develop a dependency on the chemical and if you don't take it regularly, you may begin running a low-grade fever on occasion(it was every afternoon for me) for no apparent reason. The symptoms for me lasted about three months. If you do begin running a fever as I did, I would still visit a doctor just to be sure the fever is due to the vicodin, or lack thereof.

You are likely on the addiction trail and have perhaps an additional psychological problem. So its best to see your Doctor pronto and explain honestly whats happening. Vicodin is not for use to go to sleep.

you dont need to take it just to hlep you to sleep.....this will cause you to become addicted, because you will loose the abilitty to fall asleep on your on. you do not need to take it nightly just to help you sleep....you have only done this for a week, so as of right now, I don't think that I would go so far as to say that you are addicted, but if you keep taing it this way you will become addicted.

Pain Pills can help and hurt you but, it sound like your take them because to have pain and they help you sleep. One per day is not excessive.

Talk to your doctor if you're concerened about being addicted. It's very easy to become addicted to prescription narctoics.
