Please be real people, financial aid is to be used how you WANT it to be used. Granted, you take whatever you need for books and other education stuff and the rest, spend it on what you like............such as food, living expenses such as rent, car note, insurance.....I have received financial aid for the last 3 years and a portion of it IS spent on tuition and such but the rest of it I do what I want with it. So dont let anyone fool ya. Most college students use their financial aid checks to buy cars.........

FAFSA is for school, and your state of residence may have a financial aid program as well, but most college students usually have small part/full time jobs to get through school.

Your financial aid award is to be used for tuition, fees and other expenses associated with being a college student. Room and board are considered to be part of these expenses.

That all depends on the grant. Some grants such as the pell grant give you a certain amount of money based on your or your families income and you pay for school....any amount over the cost of schooling is yours...intended for transportation, food and other costs you incur to allow you to be able to go to school and still conduct your day to day life.

It is illegal to use financial aid funds for anything other than school-related expenses (tuition, fees, room, board, etc.).

And most students actually don't spend their financial aid on cars, FYI.
