I want to be on meds temporarily, are there any meds that are good for the short term?

many docs use short term (three to six month) treatment courses with antidepressants, then stop the treatment. If depression recurs, they suggest longer term therapy (six to twelve months), then discontinue again. If there is a third episode, chronic treatment with antidepressants is often needed. It is common to use antidepressants for short term.
It appears that most docs today use a class of drugs called SSRI's. This includes prozac, zoloft, and paxil. These medications have proven safe and effective when used under medical supervision.

The meds can work like that if you do too. It is you that make the difference not the drugs. Most of the antidepressants provide balancing levels in the brain. If that stabilizes you won't need the drugs any ore. Which would you rather have a normal life with taking pills or an abnormal life without pills?

do not REPEAT do not take anti-depressants when not needed=you dont know what dosage you would need and they are addicting and hard to get off of=also if you took one that you might be allergic to you could die
