Is it possible (I am not saying I want to, I was just curious) to add color to a black and gray tattoo? I've searched around and as far as I can tell there's no information and no one else seems to be wondering about this.

Several tattoo artists can fix tattoos so they should be able to add color to one.

I got a tattoo of a rose with a scroll going around the stem which has my 2 kids names. I initially asked the tattoo artist to do it black/grey. Once he finished, and even though I loved it, I decided that it needed color. He was able to color the rose red, and stem/leaves green and you would never know that it was originally black/grey.

Color can be added to any tattoo. Depending on the inks used, some colors will cover grayscale. It really depends on how dark the shading is on the original tattoo, and the quality of the tattoo.

I have heard of waterdowned inks being used to add light color "behind" grayscale, and not being so think and bright to overpower the shading.

Okay if you don't know what a sugar skull is why are you answering the question first answerer?? And color tattoos are tacky? Where do these people come from? If you want color get color. It's not tacky, go with what you feel. Sugar skulls are awesome tatts, especially with color.
