Because they don't really believe the stuff they spout about religion. They are in the religion business for profit.

I think the better question is "Why do the Girl scouts concern themselves so much with the accumulation of money?" Could it be organizations need money to function? Or are you using TV Evangelists as the rule and not the exception?

Because false preachers are wolves in sheep's clothing and that is why Christians have to be wise as serpents but and harmless as doves.
We have to be good stewards of our money. Titus 1:7 tells us about qualifications for a Bishop but I think it can fit anyone in authority. The last verse states "must not be greedy for money." I guess this was an ongoing problem even in biblical days.

Just like in Jesus Christ's day the religious leaders cheated the people who came to Jerusalem for the Passover feast from all over Israel. Jesus Christ cleansed the temple court yards twice of the people who were cheating the people. Jesus is our example, not the religious leaders, many of whom are lost and don't realize it. The Bible says, "The love of money is the root of all evil." 1 Tim.6:10 God doesn't need our money, but we need to share our money with those who need food and clothes....

Don't know just which religious leaders you mean. But the Catholic church comes to mind. Yes, the Catholic church has a lot of money, but they also have missionaries all over the world, they run food pantries, etc.
There are scams, surely. And that is with all things. But you don't have to give them your money.

Those who lean unto there own understanding of scripture are leading others astray and blinded by their "pride!" But this has to occur for the Kingdom of God is coming to this earth and establish His way as the only way.
Pride is man's downfall. The End of the circle of man's self rule will be the beginning of Christ's Kingdom but that "pride" must be broken first!
