That is totally false, right? And yet Protestants do that all the time to Jesus' mother Mary? Do they honestly think that God will be PLEASED with their bad treatment of his mother?

Example: A man goes to heaven and says to Jesus: "I totally ignored your mother and called her an unimportant person! Don't you just love me for that?" I'm thinking that Jesus would be pretty PO'd at this guy...

Protestants are in a tough position.

The Bible says that every age shall call Mary blessed, but they know that they must worhsip God ALONE. They feel that the reverence given Mary by the Catholic Church, calling her Queen of Heaven and such is actually worship, rather than seeing her as a blessed woman.

I don't think that ANY protestant would call Mary unimportant, indeed they recognize that she was chosen "among women" to be the Mother of Christ. Still, the Bible admonishes to worship one God, and no goddesses.

I think that both positions (Catholic and Protestant) have valid points, but many Catholics go beyond reverence, and some place more importance on Mary than God himself.

Jesus told a disciple, "Behold thy Mother", but he never said that Mary was the Queen of Heaven. He never said that Mary would have her own throne, or that she would be worshiped.

I think that perhaps many protestants could do better in remembering Mary's blessed status, and that many Catholics should recognize that Mary isn't their Goddess.

Still, that's an opinion I formed when I was a Christian, and I'm not one now. I guess it's an outsider's view.

No Catholic who knows anything about the Church would ever tell you that Mary is a goddess or that we "worship" her. Worship is given to God Alone, not to His creatures.

We honor the Blessed Virgin because she obeyed God and because she is a beautiful role model for all Christians. She was obedient, she was concerned about others, and she loved her Son so much that she stayed with Him even with the other disciples had abandoned Him.

She is also a member of the Communion of saints -- the entire Body of Christ in Heaven and on earth. We can ask her to pray for us just as we can ask any other believer to intercede with Jesus for our needs.

Anyone who tells you anything different doesn't know what the Church actually teaches about Mary.

Since Christians do not believe that Jesus was a "man" in the strictest sense, your original statement seems to have nothing to do with him. Besides, in the Bible HE ignored her and treated her as unimportant. Difficult to say what this all means, but those of us that are not Christians need not be concerned with that.

Protestants do not do that. Where did you get that idea? They give Loving credit to Mary the Mother of Jesus. But they do not pray to her. They are taught to only pray to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Total Respect and Honor is given to Mary, the Mother of Jesus.

Uh, no we don't ignore her. She's just not the queen of heaven. She was just a human being who was blessed by being chosen to give birth to Jesus. That's a pretty great thing, right?

But Catholics give her a place of glory, which isn't biblical. If Mary was so special, why doesn't the Bible talk about her more? No, it focuses on Jesus, and predominately Jesus.

There's no respect of person when it comes to God in treating or respecting people. the Bible says to do unto others as you will have them do unto you. However the way to Jesus heart isn't through His mother it's actually through the Lord Himself.

The way to a mans heart is through his chest. your question lacks actual thought. no true Christian is going to be disrespectful to Jesus' mom. But we should not worship her either.
