In Genesis 2:27 it says

So God created human beings, making them to be like himself. He created them male and female,

Reading this verse, doesnt this mean that God is humanly if he made us to be like him?
What do you think?

Ge 1:26-28
The crown of God's work was the creation of man in His image and according to His likeness. This means that man was placed on earth as God's representative, and that He resembles God in certain ways.

Just as God is a Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), so man is a tripartite being (spirit, soul, and body). Like God, man has intellect, a moral nature, the power to communicate with others, and an emotional nature that transcends instinct. There is no thought of physical likeness here. In contrast to animals, man is a worshiper, an articulate communicator, and a creator.

There is an allowance for or even an intimation of the Trinity in verse 26: Then God [Elohim, plural] said [singular verb in Hebrew], "Let Us [plural] make man in Our image . . . ."

The Bible describes the origin of the sexes as a creative act of God. Evolution has never been able to explain how the sexes began. Humanity was commanded to be fruitful and multiply.

God gave man a mandate to subdue creation and have dominion over it—to use it but not abuse it. The modern crises in the earth's environment are due to man's greed, selfishness, and carelessness.

Made in God’s Image

The Bible explains the reason for the spiritual side of man’s nature, saying: “God proceeded to create the man in his image, in God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27) Our being formed “in God’s image” means that even though we have been tarnished by sin and imperfection, we have the ability to mirror certain qualities of God. (Romans 5:12) For example, we can be creative. We also have a measure of wisdom, a sense of justice, and the ability to show self-sacrificing love for one another. Furthermore, we can reflect on the past and plan for the future.—Proverbs 4:7; Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11; Micah 6:8; John 13:34; 1 John 4:8.

There is no Genesis 2: 27

I believe you mean Gen 1:27. We are made in image of God means that we know right from wrong. : )

There are 2 creation stories. The 2nd says that the Lord God removed a rib from the man to make the woman. Also, the passage that you quoted actually says, Let us make man in our image. Image is different from soul and essence.

God isn't like man, man is like God. God created us with things He's got:

- a soul
- a spirit
- a body (Jesus in God's case)

mainly the soulish aspect (if you read Genesis 2:7 KJV). God created us with emotions, intellect .... and later a conscience. stuff He has.

It says God created us to be like Him. It does not say He made himself like us. So, no, God is not human. But he is capable of free will, and He created us that way too.

Genesis was originally written in Hebrew. When studying this verse, it means that we are made like Him in this way: We are creative, we can think and reason, we can love, we have emotions, etc. We are like Him in these ways, He is like this, but on a much different scale.........
