The religions I know aren't normally racist in any fundamental way. They are mostly homophobic, however; that's pretty deep rooted.

Racism uses religion to self-justify, which is why the two are sometimes associated.

Spirituality, as opposed to religion, tends to be the opposite of racist, because it tends to be associated with a consciousness of the unified and interdependent nature of life. Sometimes it gets stuck contemplating that point in a dreamy haze, and somewhere else, racism marches on unhindered.

God is not racist, so why should religion and spirituality be so? Then again, I have heard that Sunday morning is the most segregated time in America. That observation alone, says that the Church needs to be more conscious about race relationships, and try to foster more brotherly love. Thanks for the question.

No. Religion is simply a belief followed by many people. Most religions, Christianity and Islam especially, promote racial harmony and see racism as a 'sin'.
