Why are we a society of people who put others down because they haven't accomplished monitarily as much as others have.

First I would like to say that someone is doing a great job of raising this young man. What a beautiful viewpoint he has. I am a working woman who has had to raise a child alone due to being abandoned by the child father my ex-husband. It was not easy and we struggled financially. We lived in a very affluent community where children were wearing clothes that cost more than my rent. My daughter was treated badly for not wearing designer clothes and some girls made fun of her because I was supplementing my income by cleaning houses. Kids taunted her because her mother cleaned toilets. My daughter held her ground and said yes isn't it wonderful that my mom puts me first and is willing to do whatever she has to so that I can have a future? Don't you wish your mom loved you that much? -- Your son is right on I think the waywe change thisis one attitude at a time and your son will change many attitudes. I am going to star thisquestion and I think heis terrific. good luck -k-

I know that everyone is not that way. I have been blessed with a loving family, a comfortable home and plenty to eat. I am grateful. Many people don't have these things.

All that I have is given to me by God. Nothing really belongs to me. It is all His. When people become proud, they are believing that what they have accomplished is all about what they have done, not realizing that everything comes from God.

People are born sinful. We all exhibit pride and we all treat others badly at times. This is wrong.

Tell your son to trust God, treat others as he would like to be treated, be grateful, and give to others. Stop worrying about what other people say. That is between them and God. God will deal with them. If he will do this, he will be blessed.

it's makes us feel better that we are better than those unaccomplished(or so we think). Everyone puts down the other to hide our own weakeness that we can't live up to our and society's expectations. It's a huge web of humankind's own self-pride and prejudice to people who have less and therefore is "lower".

EVERYONE is not really like that.

The people who ARE like that are very shallow, and have very little self esteem. They measure their OWN worth by the only thing they can---their money. They are usually not very smart, loveable, nice, or attractive--so their money brings them the only comfort they have in life.

Teach your son to avoid people like that, yet pity them. You can be very poor in material things and STILL be happy--and most of us ARE happier than the people he asked about! With all the money they have, they can never buy love, happiness, or true friends.....and that makes them bitter.

The people who make such judgments are insecure or unhappy/unfullfilled in their lives. It makes them feel better to judge someone less fortunate who may in fact be a better person or more happy then themselves.

It's a form of false pride. If we could just get people to replace the false pride with compassion, what a better world this would be.

It seems as though some have to knock others down to build themselves up. Hopefully, one day, they'll learn this doesn't work!

The people that make those judgements are insecure with themselves.
