Lack of education, bad family eating habits, not enough attention focussed on weight in schools, fear.

You want a real anserew from some one with experience? It's because Americans are lazy. Fast food is so easy to do these days. Alot of obese children have obese parents who feed there children what they are eating.

Example: Single mother works a 9-5 good 5 days a week. About time she gets home she is tired so she stops but McDonalds for some hamburgers about time they get home and eat those hamburgers she is to tired to go outside and play. And on the weekends mom wants to rest because her week was so damn rough.

I think that schools should have more physical education. I remember when i was in school i could just forge a note saying I was sick and could set on the bleechers for PE. the problem starts with the parents. I think that we all should be in shape and healthy before we bring children into this world.
Now there is also obese people who have health problems and it is not thee fault but for the rest of us (yes me) we have no reason at all and need to wake up to face reality.

I think kids are much less active than they were back in the day.

My older sister and I ate plenty of junkfood as kids/teens... but we were also always outside playing baseball or tag or cops and robbers rollerskating or riding our bikes or walking the trails near our house. Neither one of us had any problem with weight gain as kids despite the chips, cookies, candy bars, pizza, soda, etc. (Of course now that we're adults, we have to watch our diets more carefully.)

My younger sister (15 years younger) ate the same type of junk food but spent most of her time playing video games, watching tv, surfing the net, talking on the phone, etc. She never even learned to ride a bike or rollerskate. Sadly she became obese at a young age and has struggled with weight problems and the associated health problems ever since.

All the junk food laying around and their environment. Face it...going to places like McDonalds is a very common and weekly (Some people, even daily) thing to do. Also most young children follow their parents example. Lots of parents don't have time to cook so they just get fast food.

We are getting to the point where many kids stay inside all the time and type on their computers (ironic) and watch TV all day. The food is not healthy and parents do not make health concious decisions. He have become to acceptive of abesity i believe.

Too much junk food and not enough exercises. A lot of parents don't let their kids go run outside all over the neighborhood like I did when I was a kid. It isn't safe. the bottom line is kids need to move and play more.

Eating too much causes obesity, people eat too much because they are bored and eating is the cure for bordom.
(No seriously it is)

And children have trouble staying in shape due to lack of motivation and encouragment.

because society makes it easier to eat poorly and video games and tv make staying in shape less attractive options for children.

(A chocolate bar and coke costs MUCH less than milk and a salad - how messed up is that?)

Here's a list:
1. Gyms at school just play games don't do any physical activity
2.Fast food restaurants
3.Parents
4.Not educated on what is right and how much they should eat

The world is coming to
a bad place

Discipline. Right away, my first reaction was technology, and video games. But dammit if I didn't play my fair share of video games when I was younger, and I turned out fine. There's no parents out there now telling their kids to go outside instead of sitting in doors doing nothing in front of the TV. Hey, when in doubt, blame it on the parents. They feed them don't they?
